I've experienced, that the issue concerning the ATI RADEON X1900 graphics card series has not been completely fixed with the release of the PC edition. Therefore it is a good idea to apply the Closed Beta workaround again:
Rename BFBC2Game.exe to BF2.exe, and launch BF2.exe directly.

Stupidly I made a mistake: For historical reasons I've two EA accounts. To participate in the multiplayer matches I was forced irreversibly to attach the serial number of the retail version to one of my two EA accounts. Unfortunately I linked the serial number of the Closed Beta to the other of my two EA accounts. As a gratification for the participation in the Closed Beta the nicknames used at that time have not been deleted for later re-use after the release of the game. My original nickname TigerPixel.DE is now blocked and I'm forced to use an alias, e.g. ^TigerPixel.DE^.
